Who is a non-binary, alcoholic sex worker in the Tenderloin. When Crystal arrives to share that she is the child Who gave up 20 years prior and she is also trans, Who cautiously lets her into their life. But as Crystal and her husband begin planning a family, they ask Who for unexpected help.

THE STORY

1994. WHO is a non-binary, alcoholic sex worker living in a crappy hotel in the San Francisco Tenderloin with recent runaway, LACEY, a trans girl. Who is a lone wolf, rough around the edges, avoiding the deathbeds of their friends with AIDS and refusing to apologize for their survival.

CRYSTAL moves to Palo Alto with her husband NATE, after he left his stable engineering job to found a tech start-up with his college friend. Crystal ventures to the Tenderloin with the news that she is the child Who gave up 20 years prior, when Who was just 13 years old.

Now, she wants to meet Who - because Crystal is also trans, and she has never met another trans person before. Despite their differences, they start to form a bond.

When Crystal and Nate begin planning a family of their own, Crystal asks Who if they will have a second child using Nate’s sperm - for Crystal and Nate to raise.

In the end, Who, Crystal, and Lacey must learn how to be a family in a way that uplifts them all.
