Snake is released from prison with advanced thyroid cancer after serving 23 years of his life sentence, and intends to quietly finish out his life on the street - and maybe meet his grown daughter before he dies.
But when his closest street friend Julie, only 18, kills her pimp in self-defense, he is sucked back into the world of gangs, sex, and guns that he hoped never to return to.

As we discover Snake’s crime through flashbacks to his pre-prison life, Snake and Julie fall into a strange, tangled love in spite of their traumatic pasts.

Snake and Julie race through increasingly violent confrontations with the gang - and we can only hope they will help each other regain their humanity before they lose it forever.
